The joint Lenten program between Lord of the Seas Lutheran Church and St. Francis in the Keys Episcopal Church will come to a climax this Holy Week.
The two congregations will come together to celebrate Maundy Thursday at 7 pm at St. Francis. They will commemorate Jesus instituting the Lord's Supper, washing the feet of his disciples and giving his new commandment to love each other as he loves us. The Rev. Chris Todd will preaching on “Cleaning Up Messes.”
Both parishes will observe Good Friday at 7 pm at Lord of the Seas with a sung version of Tenebrae called “Shadows,”retelling the story of Jesus' passion.
Both churches will join for an Easter Sunrise service at 6:45 am at the end of Bogie Rd, on the water facing east. They will rejoice in the Risen Christ with song, prayer, proclamation and the Eucharist. That will be followed by an Easter breakfast at Lord of the Seas at 8 am.
Easter services will be held at St. Francis at 8:30 am and at Lord of the Seas at 10:30 am.
Lord of the Seas is located at 1250 Key Deer Blvd, a mile and a quarter from the only stoplight on Big Pine Key. St. Francis in the Keys is at 1600 Key Deer Blvd, just south of Watson Blvd.
